MSG Kenneth King
Master Sergeant Kenneth King is a native of Chico, California and a graduate of Chico Senior High School. After enlisting into the United States Army as an Infantryman in 2001, MSG King attended One Station Unit Training and Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA.
Upon completion, MSG was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 509th Infantry (Airborne) at Fort Polk, LA. There he served in capacities from Rifleman to Fire Team Leader while acting as the Opposing Forces for the Army’s Joint Readiness Training Center. In June 2004, MSG King deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
MSG King next served as a Squad Leader in Bravo Company, 1-68 Combined Arms Battalion, Fort Carson, CO. There he again deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in November 2005. Upon re-deploying in November 2006, MSG King attended Recruiting and Retention School in Fort Jackson, SC. After graduation he served as a detailed recruiter in Birmingham, AL.
MSG King’s next assignment took him to Fort Bragg, NC where he served as a Platoon Sergeant in Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment and Charlie Troop, 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment. He again deployed to Iraq in May 2001 in support of Operation New Dawn.
MSG King then volunteered for assignment with Operations Group, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, LA where he served as a Platoon Sergeant Observer/Controller/Trainer and Battle Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Observer/Controller/Trainer. After being selected for promotion to Master Sergeant, MSG King served as the First Sergeant for Apache Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment also at Fort Polk, LA.
MSG King’s military education includes Airborne School, all requisite Non-Commissioned Officer Education, Recruiter and Retention School, Jumpmaster School, and the Battle Staff NCO Course. He also holds and Associate’s Degree from Central Texas College.
MSG King’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Accommodation medal with Valor, Army Accommodation Medal one Silver leaf cluster and one oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Iraqi Campaign Medal with four combat stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon with bronze numeral III, the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Army Superior Unit Award. He has been awarded the Senior Parachutists Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Recruiter Badge with three Safire Stars, and the Recruiter Ring.
MSG King is married with three children.
